No Hope?

Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air…but only for one second without hope. Hal Lindsey

A dream gives life meaning but hope gives life a purpose. We need hope. When our questions of ‘why and how’ exceed the reasons and answers then hope steps in. When we say ‘forget it’, hope bursts in saying ‘wait, not yet’. We need it every second of our life. We must strive to never allow a life to be empty of hope.

Hopelessness is the feeling at the center of each suicide attempt. Despaired souls look at their past and present, and lose the faith to believe that there can be a better, brighter future. Their hearts become anchored in the bleakness of current circumstances, and thus death seems to be the only answer to end their agony. Hopelessness and increased suicide rate in America Atlantic-Journal Constitution.

I seem to be more aware of despair today. The sadness and the loss of life is tangible. When I take the time to contemplate the condition of this world, I have to admit happiness seems hard to come by at times. Some heartbreak comes from a natural disaster but a large portion of the despair that I see is man-made, human beings being cruel to one another with a lack of empathy.

There is Hope

There is enough to feel hopeless about in life but my goal is to refocus us on gratitude. Hope starts with you and me. I am an instrument of hope. Your neighbor needs you. This world needs you. Everyone adds value to this moment. Our lives are filled with purpose. No one’s light outshines your’s. Shine and live your life passionately. We need you!

Glory has a hope.

To whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.—Colossians 1:27.

Glory in this passage is translated ‘doxa’ and one definition is a divine quality. When we are being shaken in life we can use this experience to awaken the divine qualities within. Christ in you’ is the divine quality that made the cross worth experiencing. We are filled with this mystery. To reflect the love of God like Jesus did makes us a gift to this world. To be like Jesus. This is a POWERFUL hope!
