Awaken the Kingdom Within

My Lenten Pilgrimage
Today, I am sharing a few moments of my pilgrimage to the Peace & Awareness Center (P&AC) in Los Angeles, CA. I try to come at least once a year to meditate and walk the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth dates back to the 13th century in Chartres Cathedral in France. It is a circular path that one walks as the P&AC shares, “as a metaphor for how to live your life. There are no dead ends. Though the path curves and sometimes seems to turn back on itself, it is continuous to the center.”
Pray. Listen. The first time I walked a Labyrinth was in the early 1990’s at Grace Cathedral on Knob Hill, San Francisco, CA. It seemed strange and uncomfortable to walk a seemingly simple path leading to no where but, I was so wrong. I have come to realize from walking this path all these years that life is simply a journey. Daily we are walking with the Lord, trusting the path he has laid for us, and praying( staying in communication with him). The Labyrinth pilgrimage has given me the opportunity to make prayer and listening a special experience.
Quiet Yourself. Meditate on the word. Spirituality is connecting with God and not just in Church. This experience has taught me how to listen to the Holy Spirit speaking by intentionally being quiet and still while walking in meditation and prayer! I will share more about what I learned next time.
Take a journey within. Set aside 30 min or more. Identify three places to sit, and take something to write with. Sitting at Place 1. Ask yourself, “What in my life is unstable?”. Write notes. When finished walk to the next place. Place 2. What do you want the Lord to do? What do you need from you? Write notes. When done, as you walk to Place 3 take your time. Speak in your heart, what do you see your life being? See what you see. Place 3. Sit down. What have you experienced? Was this moment valuable? Do you have a word of encouragement for anyone? Write it down.
